It’s nearly time for turnout!

It’s nearly time for turnout!

This month our members have been busy relocating animals from their winter pasture to fresh spring grasses

throughout Washington State. Sometimes this means several days hauling cattle by truck and trailer, or just monitoring the pastures on the home place before closing the gate on the winter feeding yard.

Family cow-calf operations benefit Washington in numerous ways. In addition to creating revenue for rural economies, cattle also make use of a renewable resource (grass) while creating a beneficial product (protein). Cattle grazing also helps to reduce the fuel loads for forest fires by reducing grasses and underbrush, which also keeps areas open for wildlife.
